iNSPIRATION

As a child, my mother often took me to ancient Devi temples. I resisted at first, but something shifted with each visit: I began to feel the quiet power that lingered in those sanctums. The air seemed to hum, as if the walls themselves held centuries of prayer. Standing there, I felt waves of vibration wrap around me — a peace that made me feel woven into the very fabric of the Universe. Waves from the Sanctum Sanctorum is born from that memory, an echo of those early moments when the sacred first touched my spirit.

eXPRESSION

In Waves from the Sanctum Sanctorum, the temple form emerges in grounded tones of natural stone, that echo the weight and permanence of ancient shrines. The earthy texture give the sanctum a tactile presence, as though carved from centuries of faith.

From this sacred centre, holy vibrations arise—quiet at first, then gathering strength—lifting upward like a column of sanctified breath. These vibrations extend beyond the inner chamber, radiating upward as an unseen force travelling across the expanse of the universe, touching all that lies within its compass.  These vibrations have been illustrated using smalti tiles, hand- cut in a faceted style, thus giving it a luminosity. It is in this expanding field of light that the mosaic becomes a quiet meditation—an invitation to feel the sanctity that moves beyond form. It reminds us that every sacred centre, no matter how small, has the power to send its blessings far into the unseen.

Along their journey, the shimmering glass-leaf motifs appear as radiant touchpoints: tiny sparks of divine illumination where the sacred energy meets the world. They embody the blessings carried upon each vibration, glistening like seeds of light released into space. This spreading resonance is made visible through the parallel lines of tesserae. Their rhythmic movement maps the path of the vibrations—guiding the viewer’s gaze, tracing the arc of energy as it rises, disperses, and gently transforms the atmosphere around it. Here, the sacred becomes motion, the unseen becomes felt, and devotion reveals its expanding field.
