iNSPIRATION

Orbis Concordia is my tribute to the timeless beauty and composure of Roman mosaics. 

 

Across ages and cultures, beauty has remained compelling only when tempered by balance — without it, excess overtakes grace and depth gives way to display. This understanding is what continually draws me to Roman design. Roman patterns radiate a sense of calm, offering order without rigidity and richness without excess. In their restraint lies their enduring appeal —and becomes my inspiration to re-make an ancient Roman pattern in Orbis Concordia.  A balanced beauty that feels grounded, humane, and timeless, capable of speaking across centuries without losing its dignity or its fragrance.

 

The studied  equilibrium of a Roman mosaic has always  been an inspiration for my life.   Its composure allows beauty to endure without ever demanding attention. In this balance lies the mosaic’s quiet strength — a visual harmony that invites the viewer into a state of ease rather than awe, allowing beauty to endure without ever demanding attention.

eXPRESSION

Orbis Concordia unfolds through a restrained interplay of colour, pattern, and circular form, each chosen with intention rather than excess. This understanding of the sacred balance in the everyday has shaped both my art and my approach to living—where harmony, restraint, and proportion allow life to unfold with quiet grace.

 

Orbis Concordia is designed to be experienced as a ‘felt equilibrium’. The mosaic is an invitation to inhabit balance gently, allowing this conviction to be lived, to be felt, and seamlessly carried forward beyond the object. Earthy tones and softened hues create a visual calm, allowing the eye to move without urgency, while repetitive patterns establish rhythm and continuity. The circular boundary acts as both a frame and a philosophy—suggesting balance and wholeness without excess — gathering disparate elements into a quiet coherence. Together, these choices weave my belief of a measured, harmonious life into the work itself.      

 

The Roman precept that beauty should not only belong to temples or monuments, but should also dwell within the measured rhythms of everyday life, resonates with my approach to life. By integrating the mosaic as a cocktail table top, I have expressed this enduring belief in Orbis Concordia. Beauty is wholesome when it is woven seamlessly into the spaces we inhabit and the lives we lead, offering balance not as an ideal to be pursued, but as a presence to be lived.
